Community Grants

TSF Community Grants were launched in the spring of 2020 as an emergency response fund to meet immediate needs created by coronavirus within LGBTQ+ populations. The grants address the unique challenges for LGBTQ+ people who have faced economic and healthcare inequality since before COVID-19.

To immediately support and center Black lives, Tegan and Sara Foundation has released another round of Community Grants to Black-led, LGBTQ+ organizations addressing systemic racism by organizing to end police violence and providing legal counsel, policy development, and mental health services. We are committed to using our resources to directly center those protesting and organizing for real change now.

LGBTQ+ Summer Camps

We provide scholarships and funding support to U.S. and Canadian LGBTQ+ summer camps that focus on bringing together LGBTQ+ youth to build confidence, leadership & community.

Our goal is to increase the number of LGBTQ+ self-identified girls and young women in attendance, particularly girls of color, indigenous, low-income and rural-based youth.

Queer Health Access

We bring together a variety of experts across medical, technical, and policy disciplines to create healthcare solutions for the queer community through the Queer Health Hackathon. The 2018 Queer Health Hackathon was held at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard in Cambridge, MA.

Additionally, we partner with GLMA to build a database of culturally competent healthcare providers for the LGBTQ+ community, who often face barriers finding care from experts trained in their unique needs.

LGBTQ-Inclusive Schools

We partner annually with DonorsChoose.org to channel community support into funding teacher-submitted projects that bring LGBTQ+ inclusive books to classrooms across the U.S. We’ve supported nearly 100 projects and brought books to more than 12,000 youth.

Our goal is to increase access to LGBTQ-themed literature and content in order to enrich education, foster wellness and self-esteem, and decrease anti-LGBTQ+ bullying.
